The Adams County Fair crowned new royalty at its Junior Miss Adams County and Miss Teen Adams County Pageants Thursday, July 27.
Twenty-one young ladies between the ages of 7 and 11 competed in interviews, on stage presence and public speaking during the Junior Miss Adams County Pageant. Audra Claire, 10 of Quincy was crowned Junior Miss Adams County. Audra is the 10 year-old daughter of Brooke Peters in Quincy. Audra will be a fifth grader in the Quincy School District this fall. She enjoys attending church, playing volleyball, decorating attending and hosting sleepovers and playing soccer. The runner-up in the pageant was Breckyn Barry, the daughter of Matt and Amanda Barry of Liberty. The outgoing 2022 Junior Miss Adams County Madelyn Ohnemus is the daughter of Mike and Laura Ohnemus of Camp Point. She is going to be a 7th grader at Liberty School this Fall. She is a member of the Burton Fliers 4-H Club. In her spare time she enjoys playing volleyball and softball. She also enjoys sewing, reading, baking and spending time with her cousins and friends. The Pageant program hosted a Texas Roadhouse Takeover Night on July 18th to raise money for scholarships for the Pageant contestants. During that fundraiser, some contestants chose to participate in the Peoples’ Choice award competition to raise votes and money for the pageant program. The Peoples’ Choice Award winner for the Junior Miss Pageant was Morgan Lammers of Quincy. Morgan is the sever year-old daughter of John and Elizabeth Lammers of Quincy. Seven young ladies ages 12-15 competed for the title of Miss Teen Adams County. These contestants gave a 30 second speech about the Fair, and answered on stage questions during the pageant. They also went through an interview process Sunday, July 23. The judges chose Aubree Widmer of Quincy as the 2023 Miss Teen Adams County. She is the daughter of Trudy and Mike Willis and Shane and Michelle Widmer of Quincy. She attends Quincy Senior High School and enjoys dancing at Heinze Dance Academy, show choir and musical at QHS. The runner-up in the pageant was Lydia Zanger, the 14 year-old daughter of Chuck and Bridgett Zanger of Quincy. The Peoples’ Choice Award winner for the Miss Teen Adams County Pageant was Jillian Shaffer, the 14 year-old daughter of Tom and Janel Shaffer of Ursa. The outgoing Miss Teen Adams County is Hailey McKinney. She is the daughter of Adam and Erika McKinney of Liberty.She will be a junior at Liberty High School in the Fall. She also plays volleyball and is on the Liberty High School cheerleading squad. The selection of 2023 Adams County Fair Royalty began Wednesday with the Miss Adams County Fair Pageant. Morgan Widmer, 19, was crowned the 2023 Miss Adams County during the 81st Adams County Fair. She is the daughter of Mike and Trudy Willis. She is a graduate of Quincy Senior High School. This fall she will be going into her sophomore year at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. She is studying Elementary Education. Widmer is the 58th Adams County Fair Queen to be crowned since the pageant began in 1965. Prior to the Miss Adams County Fair Queen Pageant, the fair held its Little Miss and Mister Pageant. More than 20 boys and girls ages 3-6 from Adams County competed for the titles, answering pre-written questions on stage. The judges chose Hope Campbell to serve as the Little Miss Adams County. Jordan Oenning was named Little Mister Adams County Fair. Little Miss Adams County Fair Hope Campbell is the 6 year-old daughter of Nick and Jodeen Campbell of Quincy. Little Mister Adams County Fair Jordan Oenning is the 5 year-old son of Justin and Jean Oenning of Ursa. |
