A Lifetime of Dedication to the Adams County Fair
Jerry and Dorothy Kuhn
For decades, Jerry and Dorothy Kuhn were familiar and beloved faces at the Adams County Fair, generously giving their time and talents to help make the fair a success. Their involvement began in the 1960s and continued for many years, creating a legacy of service that touched countless fairgoers and volunteers.

Jerry was known as the person who could fix just about anything. Throughout fair week, he and Dorothy would stay in their camper on the fairgrounds, allowing him to be available wherever he was needed. He repaired fences, maintained buildings, fixed bleachers, and tackled countless maintenance projects that kept the fairgrounds safe and welcoming. His willingness to lend a hand never seemed to end, and he continued volunteering well into his 80s.
Dorothy’s contributions were just as meaningful. She devoted countless hours in the Quonset building, where she helped check in needlework, knitting, and other handcraft exhibits. She assisted with organizing displays for judging and ensured exhibitors’ projects were presented with care. Her attention to detail and friendly nature helped make the exhibit process run smoothly year after year.
Together, Jerry and Dorothy also volunteered at the American Legion food stands, serving fair visitors with the same dedication they brought to every aspect of the fair. They especially loved the country western music performances and rarely missed a show, enjoying their box seats after a day of hard work.

Beyond their volunteer service, Jerry and Dorothy created treasured family traditions. Their grandchildren have fond memories of spending fair week with them in the camper, experiencing the excitement of the fair through their grandparents’ eyes. Those memories of helping around the grounds, enjoying the music, and sharing time together have become lasting reminders of the couple’s love for the fair and for their family.
Jerry and Dorothy Kuhn exemplified the spirit of volunteerism that has long been the foundation of the Adams County Fair. Through decades of hard work, quiet dedication, and a genuine love for the fair, they left an enduring impact that will be remembered for generations.
