Miss Adams County Fair to Compete in State Pageant Miss Adams County Fair Morgan Widmer embarks on a new adventure this week as she leaves to compete in the Miss Illinois County Fair Queen Pageant in Springfield. She will compete against 73 other county fair queens from all over the state vying for the title of Miss Illinois County Fair. Queen Morgan says this upcoming pageant week is something she’s been working towards since she was crowned in July. “I’m very excited to participate in the state pageant,” said Widmer. “I have been working very hard to represent Adams County and I’m looking forward to see all of the other county fair queens again in Springfield.” Widmer has been quite busy as a sophomore elementary education student in college. She attends Quincy University where she is a member of the QU Dance Team. She also represents the Adams County Fair at many community events, as well as mentors other young women and girls across the county. Widmer is the 19 year-old daughter of Trudy and Mike Willis of Quincy. She is a graduate of Quincy High School. Widmer is the 58th Adams County Fair Queen to be crowned since the pageant began in 1965. The Illinois County Fair Queen Pageant will be held Saturday and Sunday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Springfield. However, Widmer will arrive Wednesday, long before she ever takes the stage for the actual pageant. She and the 72 other candidates will participate in long days of rehearsals and interviews before she competes in the preliminary competition on stage at Springfield’s Crowne Plaza Hotel this Saturday at 7p.m. Widmer says she knows the entire Adams County will be rooting for her from home this weekend. “I am very appreciative of all of their support,” said Widmer. “I will do my best to make Adams County proud. I will compete to the best of my ability, but no matter what I know I have the support of those back home.” The current 2023 Miss Illinois County Fair is Paige Van Dyke of Clay County. In 2024, the Adams County Fair will be held Wednesday, July 24 through Tuesday, July 30th. ========================== July 2023-- Morgan Widmer, 19, was crowned 2023 Miss Adams County during the 2023 Miss Adams County Fair Pageant.
