DEPARTMENT O–CULINARY
Superintendent–Mary Ann Bentzinger AMOUNT OFFERED IN THIS DEPARTMENT IS $749.55
There will be no entry fees charged to winners.


All entries in this department are subject to General Rules in front of this book.
All entries must be made by 8:00 A.M., Thursday, July 24, 2008.
The Fair Association will not be responsible for exhibits left in its care,
however, precaution will be taken to prevent loss or damage.
All entries must be baked or prepared by the exhibitor. No prepared
mixes allowed. No Commercial Exhibits.
Right is Reserve for the judges to open any canned goods if the judge
deems it necessary. This Department will be released at 5:00 P.M. the last day of the Fair.
This department will not attempt to sell any article exhibited. Superintendent will be on hand to receive Wednesday, July 23 at 4:00 P.M. Vegetables and Fruit must be canned in clear glass pint jars and labeled.
Jars must be labeled and dated permanently with processing date. Dates
accepted are July 25, 2007 thru July 23, 2008.Grape juice may be pint or quart size.
Cake entries will be limited to one-half cake except class #22.
Please put no frosting on cut side of cake. Cakes may be covered or uncovered. This is left to discretion of the exhibitor.
All baked entries should be in disposable pans or transferred to cardboard.
3 Cookies shall be displayed on a 6” paper plate, sealed in a Ziploc bag.
#30 Sugar Cookies may be on a 9” plate and uncovered.
Pie shells in disposable aluminum pie pans.
No glass or metal pans, please.
All entries in Classes 3,4,5, & 12, must be a FULL PAN. Jellies, preserves, and jam in 1/2 pint jelly jars. Processed in hot water bath.
No paraffin.
Candy entries will be limited to three pieces on six inch paper plates, sealed
in Ziploc bag.
“President’s Cookie Jar” & “Fairboard’s Candy Display”–2 dozen (consisting of
six kinds in a clear container with wide mouth and lid to fit). The container may be a part of a larger, themed display if desired, or it may stand alone. To be presented to Bob Maynard, President of Adams County Fair.
No exhibitor may make more than one entry in any one class.
Ribbons and canned goods will be ready for claiming between 4:00 p.m. and 6:30
p.m. on the last day of the fair. All baked entries will be disposed of.
All Premium Checks must be picked up on or before the last day of
the fair. They will not be mailed.
Premium for non-starred classes: 1st–$4.30; 2nd–$3.55; 3rd–$3.00
Premiums for starred (*) classes: 1st–$5.50; 2nd–$4.25; 3rd–$3.25
Premiums for double starred (**) classes: 1st–$7.75; 2nd–$6.25; 3rd–$4.50
