History of Adams Country Fair

  •  First Adams County Fair - 1941
              A one day event "on the square" in Mendon, IL
     

  •  The  next year The "Fair" moved then to the Mendon High school grounds and stayed there until 1950.
     

  • A 30 acres tract of land was purchased in 1950 on the Mendon-Fowler blacktop and a new charter was issued changing the fair name to Adams County Fair Association. An additional 50 acres was purchased at the north side of the grounds.
     

  •  Buildings on the grounds Started with a metal Quonset. Tents have been replaced with permanent livestock barns, tiny office expanded, a grandstand added and improved through the years. Roads and streets have been improved, a second entrance added as well as large restroom facilities .
     

  •  The Adams County fair has come a long way from the one day event to the seven-day fair ranked among the best in the state and the mid-west.
